Ticket to Ride is a traveling salesman puzzle and resource management game in a railway theme.

Players receive ticket to ride cards with starting and ending cities, and cards with colors. They also get a set of train tokens of one color to represent their railways.

Each turn, a player must do one of three things:

1) draw two cards from either five face-up cards, or from the face-down deck. A face-up wild card counts as two cards drawn. Drawn face-up cards are replaced immediately.

2) place a number of train tokens of own color connecting two cities by playing cards that are the same color as the indicated between the cities, and the same number as indicated. Get a number of points equal to the number of train tokens placed.

3) draw three ticket to ride cards, keep at least one.

The object of the game is to connect all the cities on your ticket to ride cards, and score the value on the cards. For unsuccessful ticket to ride cards, subtract the value shown. Also, longest chain of train tokens gets ten additional points.

The game ends the after all the players get a turn after one player has less than three train tokens left.

The highest score wins.

The game board is effective with an irrelevant map superimposed with fat spaces for train tokens. The trains are colorful plastic bits. The cards are slightly undersized but regular quality cards.
