Power Grid, or Funkenschlag 2nd edition, is a resource management and area control game with a power grid theme.
The game is played on a board representing America or Germany. The board contains places for cities to be built, and a network with costs into which you can expand your power grid. Start with some money.
Order of play is:
1) Determine player order.
2) Auction power stations (in player order.)
3) Buy resources needed for power stations (in reverse player order.)
4) Build cities (in reverse player order.)
5) Receive case, replenish power station and resources.
The game board is high quality, with striking (if somewhat busy) artwork, wooden bits are used to represent cities and resources, cards are used for power plants, and play money is used to represent cash.
