Cartagena is a move-your-pawn game with an escaping pirates theme.
A path is laid out. The path contains various symbols.
Players play a card from their hand to move a pirate to the next unoccupied instance of that symbol. Players can move a pirate back to the previous occupied space with less than three pirates to get the number of cards equal to the number of pirates in the space.
The player who gets all their pirates through, wins.
